The word "try" has no place in the mind of a positive thinker. Like you. You will not hear a leader use the word while communicating a vision or setting direction.
I have been thinking of this word and listening how often it comes up in casual talk. When you pay attention, you will agree it starts to sound like an excuse or foreshadowing an excuse. I believe you will accomplish more by simply eliminating the word from your vocabulary. Try do this:
- I will try to _____. Replace with - I will_____
- I tried. Replace with - I learned
- Try, try again. Replace with - learned, succeed
- Nice try = you failed, what next.
- They are going to try and steal our client = stop them. They are or they are not based on your action.
Next time you use the word or hear it out of someone else's mouth, skip or replace the word. Every time, it will put you in a different mindset. Your new talk will create vision. You will inspire.

David,
Very interesting advice. I think you will begin to speak in a more positive manner. You will learn that you have to commit yourself, have committed yourself, or learned to say no more often if you can do this.
I worry that a person will begin to create unrealistic expectations and disappoint a great many people. That is, unless they only say I will when they really can. This would mean that we all have to learn to be more open and honest about what we will and will not do. Imagine that - building trust. What a concept!
Thanks for the idea and the thoughts.
