
Top investment banks like Goldman Sachs to hedge funds to Google and everyone else are fighting over a small group of overachieving math and finance students. Google offers free food, pool tables and massages; Goldman counters with seven figures at some point down the road. Companies like Google are casual where investment banks in NY are still all business. Different culture for different folks.
One thing remains the same, if you are young, determined and smart as hell, you can write your own ticket. Not since the dot com boom has there been such a demand for talent.
If you can write algorithms to improve trading or search engines and speak a few languages, oh man you are part of a brand of talent that is in very high demand.
These companies are creating cultures to retain you knowing you are already thinking about your next opportunity - what a great time to be a genius!
