Simple common sense applied to everyday decisions can change the world. What a great personal brand strategy. That is why I love Bud Bilanich's, author of the Know More Media network blog CareerSuperStar.com, contest called “Use Your Common Sense Day”. November 4 is use your common sense day and Bill encourages you to, well, use your common sense. In the contest, Bill asks that you provide your own examples of common sense by posting comments on his blog. Go here for more information.
My most significant daily common sense routine is SHOWING my wife how much I appreciate her, love her and support her business and personal dreams.
Through my daily activity, I have an opportunity to get very close to people for effective personal branding, connecting and my speaking events. As a result, we see opportunities regularly for people to start behaving in their core values and stop lying to themselves. We see little common sense changes that make big impacts like:
- Do what you say you are going to do
- Be on time
- make that call
- service that client/employee/partner
- on and on...
- Practice excellent customer service every day...
- Love what you do
- Don't hide behind email, pick up the phone
- Can't get up in the morning? Stop drinking caffeine of any kind in the afternoon
- Eat real food
- exercise/move
- understand your personal finances
- No colorful language showing off ignorance (on and offline)
- Bank balance network - not as a project when you need a job or new clients
- Give back to a cause that is important to you
- Be a leader and venture into the unknown
- Build caring confident youth and future leaders encouraging hard work, healthy choices and respect for self, others and community
